Mobile A/B testing limits an experiment to mobile shoppers so a control and variant can be compared within the same device context rather than mixing mobile and desktop behavior.

Use a mobile-specific reason

Target mobile when the problem comes from viewport size, touch interaction, sticky controls, image weight, keyboard behavior, or mobile acquisition. Do not target a device only because it is available as a segment.

Test on real hardware

Check common screen sizes, browsers, network conditions, text scaling, notches, safe areas, and orientation. Emulators help during development but do not reveal every performance and interaction issue.

Keep the purchase path visible

Review variant selectors, selling plans, delivery details, sticky add-to-cart controls, cart drawers, and wallet checkout. Ensure overlays do not cover Shopify or accessibility controls.

Compare inside mobile traffic

The control and variant should both receive eligible mobile shoppers. A mobile conversion rate should not be compared directly with desktop as evidence that the mobile treatment won.

Run the test in Shopify
